Learner Response - Editing

    Editing Learner Response

1) Type up your feedback/comments from your teacher

  • Excellent response to the brief - creative and engaging (Although perhaps without the additional shot at the end!)
  • Good pace to the conversation and two moments of superb continuity editing - the initial door opening and the glove on table. Match on action is perfect
  • Could perhaps have added soundtrack and audio level, erratic in one shot.
2) Type up your feedback from fellow students:

    WWW:
- Good narrative and met the brief perfectly
- Match on action and 180 rule was good
- Good editing

    EBI:
- Add more shots to have transition more smooth
- Audio issues

3) Now reflect on your video. Did you meet the brief and successfully include the three key editing aspects we have learned?

I think I meet the brief well. I felt like I've done my best but with some oversight with some easy mistakes. Its was hard to think of improvement which means that my editing was good. But the mistakes I made during the brief will help me move forward with my next project.

Documentary Rough Cut Learner Response

Learner Response: Good opening with itv indent and music/graphic Voice over hard to hear, need to redo it Tone of voice-over tone and script sounds more like a player instead of a journalist Good interview - BUT need more detail (who is interviewee, why they are there) Graphic of interviewee name could've been better (what is the F1 branding, can you recreate it) Need more interviews Too short (need to meet 3 mins) go back to brief and read through minimum requirements With more interviewee and new voice over - documentary will be stronger Once added the details above - make sure you go through the little things (length, audio levels, graphics and captions, etc) Improvements: Need more better interviews and more interviewee (better graphics, better explanation) Proportion the documentary (section for explaining, game play, introduction, AS WELL AS EXPLAINING SO THE AUDIENCE GETS THE MESSAGE CLEAR) Meet the brief as well as changing the tone and script for voice over

Coursework: Preliminary exercise feedback and LR

 1) Type up your teacher's feedback in full plus a summary of the comments you received from other students in the class. Is this about Formula 1 or e-gaming? Might need to clarify this The lighting on you isnt great (and shot quit grains as a result) but The shot set up woth the screen in the background is excellent The opening is interesting - interview clips over black screen interspersed with dramatic shots. I think is just about worth but.. Dont repeat a clip 30 seconds later! This largely meets the brief but needs a bit of thought in terms of the real coursework WWW: Great camera shots mise-en-scene transitions and clips creative interpretation of a montage EBI: Lighting Audio Repeating clip 2) Using a combination of your own reflection on the preliminary exercise and the feedback you were given, write three WWW bullet points and three EBI bullet points for your TV documentary interview. WWW Dramatic opening Good mise-en-scene with the props in the background EBI Audio Not us...

Coursework: Print brief research and planning

BLOG LINK  Research and planning 1) Research TV marketing poster key conventions. Find at least five examples of posters promoting a TV documentary or similar show. 2) Look at this poster campaign for the BBC3 documentary series 'Not Sorry For Being Me'. How does the campaign use design elements to create a brand for the show?  Some design element can be noted. The use of a portrait of the person with the text attached to it is the main catching point. It expresses the main story of this campaign. Another element is the information represented in this production. A hashtag and info on where you can view it helps redirect people to watch it. 3) Now look for examples of marketing material for documentaries on your chosen subject or something similar (do a Google Image search for documentaries in your chosen area e.g. mental health or sports documentary).  Planning Sketching 1) Plan the marketing strategy and main focus of each of your posters. For example: Poster 1: focus o...
